Who is Core Systems Intl. (CSI)?
Core Systems International originated in the late 1980’s as a company called Paper Valley Machine. It was purchased by Automatic Handling in the early 1990’s, where it remained in the Oshkosh, WI area until 2006. In late 2006 operations were moved to Erie, MI, where they remain today. CSI is a privately owned company.

Why should I buy from CSI?
Patented Technology! CSI has more US patents than any other core cutter manufacturer in North America. Our cutters are built to last, and are manufactured 100% in the USA. We focus all of our efforts on core cutting and core handling equipment, spare parts and service, and factory refurbishing. We are a family owned business that believes in building and maintaining relationships with our customers, and providing excellent customer service year in and year out.

Why cut my own cores?
Cores are produced in “parent core” lengths. Cores normally need to be re-cut to lengths that match the slit widths of the end user. Although, this re-cutting can be done by the core vendor, it is always more beneficial to cut cores just prior to the end use. Cleanliness, humidity, and transportation are just a few factors that will alter the condition or the cut size of the cores. It is almost always more cost efficient to buy parent core lengths, and cut them to size in house. Whether you cut a few cores per day or a few thousand, CSI has the cutter that will fit your budget and space requirements.

How does a CSI Cutter work?
The Barracuda, Shark, Piranha, and Great White models are mandrel machines. The parent core is slid onto a mandrel, advanced to the cut length required, rotated and cut. The core rotation is provided by a drive shaft internal of the mandrel. The drive shaft powers a clutch (head jaws) that expands to grip the internal surface of the core. The cutting action is provided by a fixed knife blade that advances slicing through the core. A carbide pad provides backing for the inner layer of the core, drastically reducing inner layer ripping and ID “necking”. The fixed knife provides a clean, burnished cut with no dust. CSI does offer a free spinning knife and a powered (driven) knife.

How much space is required?
Space requirements vary, and are subject to the options purchased. A CSI dual mandrel cutter has the ability to cut two different diameters of cores using the space of only one cutter. Contact a CSI Sales Representative for more information on space requirements and layouts.
